At a meeting with the Government of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin supported the Ministry of Digital Development's initiative to introduce a digital passport instead of a paper one.
The digital passport is aimed at simplifying the daily life of Russian citizens, including the confirmation of preferential travel, getting discounts, registering as an individual entrepreneur, concluding an employment contract.
By May 1, 2023, the Ministry of Digital Development, together with the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, is going to prepare and send to the Government of the Russian Federation a draft Decree of the President of the Russian Federation.
This technology will be built as a QR code, similar to the technology developed for age verification at Gosuslugi. Tests are planned for the summer of 2023.
