Russia temporarily bans fuel exports to most countries in response to shortages

Russia has temporarily banned exports of gasoline and diesel to all countries except Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan to stabilise the domestic market. This is stated in the relevant government resolution.

The energy ministry said the measure would prevent unauthorised "grey" exports of motor fuels. The ban is indefinite and further actions will depend on the saturation of the market.

The ban does not apply to goods transported as supplies, as well as goods exported to support the operation of water vessels and other facilities under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Russian Federation.

The ban applies to the export of gasoline and diesel fuel to Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
