Russia denounces double taxation treaty with the Netherlands

Russia plans to denounce the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Netherlands on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of tax evasion with respect to taxes on income and property. A bill on this was submitted by the Government to the State Duma.
We remind you that in March 2020, Vladimir Putin announced his intention to increase the tax rate on income transferred abroad and to amend the bilateral agreements on the avoidance of double taxation. Tax treaties with Cyprus, Malta and Luxembourg have already been revised. Russia plans to terminate the agreement with the Netherlands due to the fact that the approach proposed by the Netherlands was not supported by Russia. After the denunciation of the agreement, Russian companies registered in the Netherlands will have to pay taxes twice.
