A law was adopted on dictionaries and reference books that fix the norms of the modern Russian language when it is used as the state language. The procedure for the formation and approval of such dictionaries and reference books will be approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on the basis of proposals from the Government Commission on the Russian Language.
To reduce excessive foreign borrowings, the use of only foreign words that do not have common analogues, the list of which is contained in normative dictionaries, is encouraged.
In addition, a list of areas where the Russian language is mandatory for use has been approved, including: information for consumers of goods, works and services, education, state and municipal information systems.
Also, from 1 January 2025, a mandatory linguistic examination of law drafts is introduced for their compliance with the rules of the Russian language.
