Communication has become a powerful socio-political factor, those who control it and have the ability to collect information have gained tremendous power.
Social networks create an information space that tightly holds all of humanity in a common communication field, which ensures the global interconnectedness of the world. This space is operated by American tech giants.

The conflict between national sovereignty and the global power of communications corporations has long been ripe. Attempts to force them to be governed by the laws of the countries of use, and not by their own rules, have been made over the past decade with more than variable success. The services offered by the giants are so in demand around the globe that governments cannot simply shut themselves off from companies without sparking massive discontent. Country alternatives, if somewhere and able to compete, so far in a very limited segment. And while regulation is tightening everywhere and fears of corporate overwhelming power are growing, qualitatively nothing is changing.

The pandemic, which has given a powerful impetus to digitalization, has further emphasized the importance of the communication sphere. During the period of quarantines and lockdowns, the world physically disintegrated into fragments, but remained informationally complete. The function of transnational corporations, primarily information giants, as bonding elements has become especially strengthened.

American events have demonstrated to the whole world the power that corporations have. Now Twitter, Facebook, Airbnb have played for the state, that is, for the system of institutions that rejected the rebellious president. However, no one guarantees that in another situation the paths of the technological oligarchy and the political bureaucracy will not diverge. The political elite understands this, and at the moment all over the world measures are being taken or are being prepared to control technology giants and digital platforms.
