Seminar on the regulation of the OTC derivatives market

On October 22, 2015, Alexander Nadmitov, Managing Partner of Nadmitov, Ivanov & Partners Law Firm, and Maxim Bashkatov, Firm's Counsel, took part in the international research seminar “Modern Trends in Legal Regulation of the OTC Derivatives Market”, which was held at the Higher School of Economics. The seminar was organized by the HSE-Skolkovo Institute for Law and Development. The seminar was moderated by Aleksey Ivanov, Director of the Institute.

Maxim Bashkatov made a presentation on the current topic "Reform of contract law and the financial market: the institution of the central counterparty." Alexander Nadmitov made a presentation on the topic “Regulation of OTC derivatives and the institution of the central counterparty in the Russian Federation”.

The leading world experts in financial markets law also took part in the seminar. Seminar speakers: Harvard Law School professor Hal Scott, renowned expert in the field of international regulation of financial markets; Professor Theodor Baums, Director of the Institute for Law and Finance, University of Frankfurt. Goethe; Professor Patrick Lejens, Professor Jens Eckenga, Martin Glasch, Senior Advisor, Československá obchodní banka. The speakers of the seminar shared the experience of foreign jurisdictions in the regulation of the OTC derivatives market, and also discussed a number of problems related to the reform of the Russian institution of the central counterparty. Representatives of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, practicing lawyers, market participants, teachers and students took part in a lively discussion.
